PUDUCHERRY: Lieutenant Governor Bhopinder Singh visited a couple of coastal villages on Sunday and gave instructions to the officials to expedite the rehabilitation works in the tsunami-hit areas. Accompanied by Speaker of the Assembly R. Radhakrishnan and officials, Mr. Singh inspected the housing complex constructed for the tsunami-hit fisherfolk at Murthy Pudukkuppam. He evinced interest in ascertaining the quality of the buildings and the standard of living of the locals. He interacted with the residents for a feedback on the existing facilities and their requirements with particular reference to enhancing basic amenities. Mr. Singh was apprised of the ongoing works at the housing complex such as the construction of a community hall which was nearing completion. He inspected areas close to the village, which had been earmarked for tourism development. According to Raj Nivas sources, Mr.Singh also visited Narambai where the construction of houses as part of the rehabilitation work was in progress.
