‘Ensure adequate anti-rabies vaccine’

HASSAN: The Hassan Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer, Shankarnarayana, on Saturday directed the District Health Officer to ensure adequate stocks of anti-rabies vaccine as the district recorded 1,284 dog bite cases in January and February.

He was speaking at a meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office here.

District Surveillance Officer Rajagopal said that the district recorded 1,284 dog bite cases, 110 gastroenteritis, 1,849 dysentery, 1,933 diarrhoea, 21 jaundice, 87 influenza, 89 snake bite, 4 chikungunya, 187 HIV and 22 food poisoning cases in January and February.

District Leprosy Officer Hemalatha said that 24 leprosy cases had been detected in the district. As many as 306 tuberculosis cases had been detected in the district.
