Man arrested on charge of murder

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The J.P. Nagar police have arrested a man who allegedly murdered Indira Kumari, the cook from Nagaland.

The police identified the suspect as Robert (27) of Nagaland. Speaking to presspersons, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Bangalore-South) S. Ravi said that Robert and Indira returned home in an inebriated state after attending a party on Thursday night.

They continued to drink thereafter and Indira spoke disparagingly about Robert’s wife Christiana and sisters Lucy (25) and Nyan (30).

Mr. Ravi said Indira threatened to inform their people in Nagaland about them. Enraged by this, Robert hit her on the head with a club and when she fell, slit her throat with a knife. Later, he locked the house and went his sisters’ house in J.P. Nagar and told them what he had done.

The next morning all the three came back to Robert’s house, giving the impression that unknown people had killed Indira. They also called the police.

J.P. Nagar police called Robert for questioning, and during the interrogation he confessed to the murder. The police recovered the knife, club and bloodstained clothes from the accused.

The police have booked a case against Lucy and Nyan for concealing the crime.
