LUCKNOW: The Samajwadi Party on Sunday took strong exception to the State government’s decision to change the colour of the state traffic police’s uniform to blue (the colour of BSP’s flag) alleging that it was the ‘beginning’ of ‘politicisation of the police force’. In a statement issued here, State SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary termed the decision as ‘political’ and demanded that it be scrapped forthwith. Not tenableHe said the reason cited for changing the colour of the uniform that the white shirts sported earlier by the traffic cops get dirty soon was not tenable. Chaudhary said that now the colour of the uniforms of the traffic cops and the Bahujan Samaj Party volunteer force had become similar and apprehended that it could also be misused. He charged the UP police chief Vikram Singh with ’lowering the dignity’ of the police force by blatantly toeing the line of the ruling party. - PTI
