BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (MPTDC) would be organising a week-long Bhopal Carnival between April 19 and 26 to promote tourism and develop the State capital as a major tourist hub. The Chairman MPTDC, Dhruvnarain Singh made this announcement at a press conference flanked by the city Mayor, Sunil Sood, Chairman Bhopal Development Corporation, Surendra Nath Singh, and the Managing Director MPTDC, Ashwani Lohani. The MPTDC chairman told media-persons that his corporation achieved significant progress in projecting Madhya Pradesh as an important destination on the tourism map of India during the last 4-year period. Madhya Pradesh has won the National Tourism Award 2006-07 for its outstanding performance in the tourism sector, he said adding that Madhya Pradesh has also won the best State award for tourism-related programmes. Mr. Singh said that the Bhopal Carnival would showcase the vibrant culture and milieu of Bhopal. The Carnival would be loaded with progammes. There would aslo be food festivals.
