MANGALORE: Anantharam R.U, a student of Derik’s Chess School, has qualified to represent Karnataka in the national under-9 chess championship to be held at Delhi from April 28 to May 6. He was runner-up in the state under-9 chess championship, organised by the Bangalore District Chess Association at Bangalore. He scored eight points in nine rounds to bag the second place. Apart from Anantharam, other DCS players, including state under-7 champion Sharan Rao (St. Theresa English Convent) and Panchami Shenoy (Chinmaya English School), also came up with impressive performances in the state championship, securing fourth place in the boys’ and girls’ categories with individual scores of seven points from nine rounds and four points from six rounds respectively.
