Bangalore: In a bid to plug the loopholes in procedures involving sanctioning of plans and granting occupancy certificates to apartments, multi-storeyed and commercial buildings, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has now made it mandatory for the builders to get prior consent from the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) before seeking its permission. The BBMP will not approve the plans for apartments, multi-storeyed and commercial complexes before the issuance of the Consent for Establishment (CFE) by the KSPCB. Also, the occupancy certificate will be issued only after the issuance of the Consent for Operation (CFO) by the KSPCB once the construction of the building was completed. Circular issuedThe BBMP issued a circular in this regard on March 28 after the KSPCB brought to its notice the loopholes in the procedure of sanctioning building plans and granting occupancy certificate due to which the builders were violating various environmental norms.
