Andhra Pradesh
The roads in Ayodhya Nagar are in a bad shape. Though the area is very much a part of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, the civic authorities seem to have less interest in improving civic amenities here. One can see many potholes on internal roads. Residents of this area had to face many difficulties in the wake of recent downpour, with the roads resembling ponds. The incomplete drainage works added to the woes of the residents. I request the civic authorities to focus on improving facilities in all residential areas in the city, including Ayodhya Nagar. A.Pattabhi Ajit Singh Nagar Reopen canteenThe canteen at the alighting point of Pandit Nehru Bus Station in Vijayawada has not been functioning for the last one month. Commuters are forced to go to the canteen at the departure block, where the manpower is insufficient to meet the extra rush of customers. The quality of foodstuff too is not up to the mark and the prices are too high. It is time the officials of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation intervened and initiated steps to reopen the canteen at the alighting point. There should be a check on quality of foodstuff and the prices. B. Ramakrishna Rao, Machilipatnam. Leakage of question papersThe issue of leakage of question papers is disturbing students a lot. Recently, we came to know through newspapers that English paper-1 of SSC examination was leaked in Nalgonda district. The police even arrested the principal of the private school concerned, where the incident took place. It was said that the private school management had allegedly resorted to question paper leakage only to get good ranks to its students. However, no action has been initiated against the offenders so far and there was no announcement about reconducting the examination. I request the authorities concerned to take appropriate steps to prevent leakage of question papers and infuse confidence among lakhs of students. N. Sriram Sai, Avanigadda Demand draft for distance education The Directorate of Distance Education of Acharya Nagarjuna University is insisting on students taking demand drafts only on the State Bank of India and Andhra Bank. Though several education institutions and prestigious institutions like the Union Public Service Commission are accepting demand drafts drawn any nationalised bank, one can’t understand why the authorities of the university are imposing such restrictions. In fact, the commission charged by many other nationalised banks is lower than the amount being collected by the two specified banks. Higher officials of the university are requested to look into the issue. C. Bhavani Durga, Old HB Colony
