Devotee dies at temple

VILLUPURAM: Sivalingam (38) of Bangalore, caught in the milling crowd at Sri Angalamman temple at Melmalaiyanur near Ginjee, died on Saturday.

He along with his wife Kausalya (28), son Sathish (five) and daughter Achu (three) had come to the temple to offer worship on the new moon day. During the procession of the presiding deity, Sivalingam reportedly fell down was trampled over by the devotees unwittingly. Ms. Kausalya who started searching for her husband found him lying dead. Later, the body was taken to the Ginjee government hospital for post-mortem. — Special Correspondent
