Divert buses via medical college

Some long-haul buses to Thiruvananthapuram should be operated via medical college after 8 p.m.

Those coming to the medical college hospital in buses taking the Kesavadasapuram route are forced to get down at Ulloor and hire autorickshaws to reach the hospital.

They face inconvenience and have to spend extra money. I request officials of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation to allow some long-haul buses via medical college.

It will be a boon especially to those coming to be with the patients at the hospital for the night.

Chaos prevails on M.G. Road

Thiruvananthapuram is, perhaps, the only capital city in the country where Mahatma Gandhi Road has no footpath on some stretches. During peak hours, walking on the road is a question of life and death.

It is surprising that the main road, right in front of the Secretariat, has not been widened in the true senses of the term. The plight of the huge crowd waiting after office hours at the bus stop for buses in the direction of Vattiyoorkavu is pathetic. The area from where General Hospital Road starts has been a parking lot for autorickshaws and private vehicles.

Hence, commuters cannot stand at one place with peace of mind, often with no other choice but to spill over to the centre of the road. Either the auto stand should be relocated or strict instructions should be given to the drivers not to disturb commuters.

Install traffic signal lights

Kunjalummood junction, between Karamana and Poojappura, is the originating point of Thamalam road.

Many vehicles from the Karamana side pass through this junction daily in the direction of Poojappura. Vehicles coming from Thamalam area and Sastri Nagar add to the crowd. Senior citizens and other pedestrians find it difficult to cross the road at the junction.

The traffic authorities should, therefore, be kind enough to install a traffic signal light at an early date, which will be a step to avoid accidents.
