Sanoo has said that the government should immediately implement the rehabilitation package declared for people evicted from Moolampilly. He was speaking at a meeting organised by the coordination committee to mark ‘Moolampilly Day’ here on Sunday. Prof. Sanoo said the government should take care not to repeat the ‘atrocities’ committed at Moolampilly in other places. He said the package declared for the Moolampilly evictees should be declared for those being evicted from other places. Francis Kalathungal, general convener of the coordination committee, presided over the meeting. C.R. Neelakandan, social activist; T.K. Sudheer, convener for the group expressing solidarity with the protestors from Moolampilly; and V. Venugopal of the Janakiya Pradhirodha Samithy; spoke. Facing hardshipA communication from the coordination committee said it took 17 days for the government to notify a rehabilitation package after 30 days of protest by the people but there was no move to implement it. This put those who were evicted two months ago to a lot of hardship.
