Sari godown gutted

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: A godown where saris had been stored was completely gutted in an inferno on Saturday in Chickpet.

As many as 10 fire tenders were pressed into service by the Fire and Emergency Service Department, whose personnel fought the blazing fire the whole night.

According to Fire Force personnel, the godown belonged to A.M. Traders in Chickpet. They received the call at around 10.40 p.m. and immediately swung into action.

The narrow lane where the godown is situated prevented fire tenders from reaching the spot and the department had to deploy Agni — the motorcycle-borne fire fighting team initially.

However, there were no casualties.

Fire Force personnel are yet to assess the damage.

Four personnel received minor injuries.
