‘Panchanga sravanam’ marks Ugadi

KHAMMAM: ‘Panchanga sravanam’ and felicitation of poets marked the Ugadi here on Monday. District Collector Shashibhushan Kumar, who was the chief guest at the ‘panchanga sravanam’ that was organised officially at the TTD kalyanamantapam, wished that the dawn of the new year should fill vibrancy in life and usher in a phase of splendid fortune. He hoped that the ‘Sarvadhari nama samvatsharam’ would bring in peace.

The Collector was accorded a traditional welcome with ‘purna kumbham’ to the venue by Veda pandits. They showered blessings on him on the occasion.

Adusumalli Janaki Ramaiah recited the almanac forecasting the major events that are in store for the country and its people. Many people took part in the ‘kavi sammelanam’. The Collector felicitated poets and writers from the district including Potturi Subba Rao, Sadanala Venkataswamy Naidu, H.V.L. Prasada Babu, M. Sriramasastry. S. Raghu. R. Ravi and K. Suguna Prasad.

He also felicitated some of the temple priests -- Burra Vasudevachary, Sivakoti Viswanadham and Krishnamacharyulu. District Revenue Officer N. Ramesh Kumar was also felicitated.
