SHIMLA: The Prem Kumar Dhumal-led BJP regime in Himachal Pradesh completed its first hundred days on Monday. Talking to media persons, the Chief Minister claimed that the Government was treating the ruling party manifesto as a policy document and was committed to the welfare of the people. Recounting some of his initiatives, he said his Government had decided to reserve at least 50 per cent of the seats in all Panchayati Raj institutions and local body elections. Wage increaseThe minimum wage had been raised to Rs.100 from Rs.75 and the social security pension for the destitute raised to Rs.300 per month from Rs.200. He said more than 2.82 lakh Below Poverty Line families in the unorganised sector were being brought under the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna providing an insurance cover of Rs.30,000 per family on an annual premium of Rs.750 for which the beneficiary family would be contributing just Rs.30 per year. The support prices for many fruits had been increased and cash prizes were introduced to boost agriculture production in the State, he said. He added that the Government had increased the interim relief for State Government employees by 5 per cent. For women, a special Indian Reserve Battalion had been created, which would have more than 1,000 women employees, he said. Special women constables had been appointed in all the police stations of the State to cater to women’s complaints. For youthFor the youth, the Government had decided to fill 50 per cent of the posts by merit and the rest on the basis of seniority.
