dated April 8, 1958: Kashmir issue

Bakshi Ghulam Mohammed, Prime Minister of Kashmir, addressing a public meeting at Shivaji Park in Bombay on April 6, demanded that a time-limit should be set to solve the Kashmir problem. The Security Council had been considering this question for the last ten years and the people of Kashmir could not allow this Damocles’ sword to hang over their heads any longer, he added. This thing was being kept alive by some powers for their own interest and during the last ten years this problem had been made more complicated. The simple fact was that Pakistan was an aggressor. When this was clear, he could not understand why the Security Council was not saying that.
