DRDA meet conducted
Kakinada: Loans amounting to Rs 1,090 crores have been disbursed to self-help groups (SHGs) in the district at 25 paisa interest in the last three years, according to the Zilla Parishad Chairman Ch Venugopala Krishna.
The present number of SHGs is 71,449, they have 8.57 lakh women as members, he said, at District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) governing body meeting. It was targeted to extend loans amounting to Rs 430 crores in the last financial year and Rs 507 crores was disbursed due to the efforts of the departments concerned.
District Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi sought focus to be laid on `Praja Padham’ scheme commencing on April 10. Union Minister of State for Defence M.M Pallam Raju, Social Welfare Minister Pilli Subhas Chandra Bose and others took part.
