HYDERABAD: The Global Service Delivery (GSD) Centre opened in the capital by Avaya India recently will soon have 300 engineers to support global customers of the New Jersey-based US $ 5-billion company across all the company’s products. While the company already has a GSD centre in Pune with 900 people, the Hyderabad centre will provide the highest level of research and development (R&D) backbone and technical support for the company, according to Niru Mehta, Managing Director and vice-president, Avaya India. ExpansionAvaya provides intelligent communications (IC) solutions across the globe. Several patents were filed following research in Pune facility and the company was expecting more of such patents to be filed from Hyderabad, said Rajiv Shroff, vice-president of the company. The Hyderabad centre would also be the company’s centralised disaster recovery centre. “The company has been bringing more work into India for the last 10 years to cater to the global requirements,” he disclosed here on Thursday. Expansion of business was a natural process in India considering its growth potential – US $ 38 million by 2011 according to IDC report. The IP telephony market in the country was throwing new opportunities, for many Indian corporates were deploying it for effective communication.
