One held for blackmail, extortion

Thiruvananthapuram: The police have arrested a 32-year-old youth on the charge of blackmailing and extorting money from a 31-year-old woman.

E. Sherifudeen, Assistant Commissioner (Anti-Goonda Squad), said the suspect, Abdul Shibu of Kattakada, had blackmailed the victim, a government servant, into paying Rs.42,000 by telling her that he was in possession of her nude pictures. The police arranged a trap with the help of the victim and nabbed the suspect from Bakery Junction on Monday evening. The police said Abdul Shibu was an unemployed youth.
