Tributes paid to Siva Brindadevi

‘Tiruchelvar’ title conferred on Nalli Kuppusamy Chetty

PUDUKOTTAI: Release of a book on comparative literature, honouring individuals and institutions in recognition of their services for the growth and development of education, fine arts and other social service activities, conferring titles on persons of eminence formed part of the ‘Aiperum Vizha’ organised under the auspices of Thilagavathiar Tiruvarul Adheenam here recently.

Participants at the function, which primarily marked the 80th birth anniversary of Saimatha Siva Brindadevi, the founder of Adheenam, paid rich tributes to her contribution in the cause of overall development of the society during the yesteryears.

Renowned social activist and founder of ‘Palam’ P. Kalyanasundaram, who released a special number of the Adheenam’s newsletter, described that Saimatha was a source of inspiration for him. He specifically commended the efforts being taken by the Adheenam for propagating ‘Tirumurai’ among the school students by organising competitions.

Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University M. Ponnavaikko released a book ‘Vallalar Nokkil Naalvar Perumakkal’ authored by the head of the Adheenam, Dayananda Chandrasekaran.

Ethics of Saivism

Pointing out that the ethics of Saivism were gaining roots in foreign countries such as Mauritius, he suggested that the Adheenam organised international programmes for propagating its values all over the globe.

Collector D. Uthirakkumaran conferred the title ‘Tiruchelvar’ on noted industrialist Nalli Kuppusamy Chetty in recognition of his multi-sided social services.

Former principal of Ramaswamy Tamil College Murugasamy; founder of Good Life Centre, Tambaram, Baskaran; and founder of Sudha Ranjani Dance School, Pudukottai, Ramani, were honoured with purse and award in appreciation of their social, educational, fine arts and literary services.
