Government urged to waive loans

KARUR: Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) has demanded that the Central and State governments waive the loans borrowed by the members of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes from the TAHDCO. To highlight their demand and to draw the attention of the governments, cadres belonging to the party staged a demonstration in front of the taluk office here on Monday.
Party Karur Union Organiser R. Palanisamy led the demonstration in which State Reorganisation Committee member N. Ilanthendral, former district presidents L. Agaramuthu and M. Kathiravan, functionaries R. Nilavan, S. Selvaperunthagai and R. Annadurai participated.
They wanted the governments to waive an estimated Rs. 700 crore due to TAHDCO, sought special banks for TAHDCO transactions in every district and a separate budget for the SCs and STs annually.
