Encounter death: second post-mortem demanded

Staff Reporter

MADURAI: Parents of Mithun Chakravarrthy (27), an accused in four murder cases who was killed in an encounter near Kodiammankoil at Cudalur near Karanthai in Thanjavur on Thursday, have sought a second post-mortem.

Addressing a press conference organised by People’s Watch here on Monday, the parents accused the police of “concocting the encounter story.”

They claimed that the petrol tap of the vehicle used by their son was not in ‘open’ position.

The ignition of the vehicle had not been switched on. Though the police claimed that Mithun had hurled a country bomb, surprisingly, no police officer had sustained burns.

Mithun’s mother said a police team had come to her house on March 24, searching for their son, and threatened her.
