Court asked to wrap up trial of assault case

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Monday directed a district court here to wrap up trial of an assault case against former Delhi Minster Narender Nath and some senior Delhi Police officers within three months.

Justice S. Muralidhar passed the direction while deciding a petition by Dr. Nath seeking quashing of his summoning by the trial court.

A Karkardooma court had in 2006 summoned Dr. Nath and the other accused.

The court had also rejected a closure report by the Krishna Nagar police seeking closure of the case on the ground that no offence was made against the accused.

The court had earlier ordered registration of a case against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code on a complaint by a female lawyer that Dr. Nath’s supporters had assaulted her. .
