dated April 9, 1958: All India Radio

The Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. K.V. Keskar, rejected the suggestion made by several members in the Lok Sabha, on April 7, to set up a corporation to run All India Radio pointing out that in any case All India Radio would be under the control of the Government and there was no need now to set up a corporation. The Minister also made it clear that All India Radio would not have commercial broadcasts like Radio Ceylon, however popular they might be, because Government were interested in maintaining a high standard like that in BBC.
