Kozhikode: The City Corporation Council has approved several spill-over projects to the tune of Rs.6.83 crore for implementation in April and May. A special council meeting was held on Tuesday to endorse the projects. The projects were to be implemented before March 31. The corporation was able to utilise only 76 per cent of the total funds last financial year. The total allocation was Rs.18.39 crore. The State government has given two more months to implement the projects following a request from the corporation. The unspent Special Component Plan (SCP) for Scheduled Caste (SC) communities was Rs.2.69 crore. Agriculture has been allotted Rs.26.84 lakh; fisheries Rs.22.75 lakh; industries Rs.34 lakh; animal husbandry Rs.56,500; health Rs.3.58 lakh; sanitation and solid waste management Rs.31.5 lakh; drinking water projects Rs.21.68 lakh; education Rs.21.43 lakh; slum development Rs.33.43 lakh, poverty alleviation Rs.43.2 lakh; housing Rs.20.38 lakh; welfare of women Rs.31.23 lakh; social security Rs.14.55 lakh; child welfare Rs.14.4 lakh; energy Rs.24.32 lakh and infrastructure development Rs.70 lakh. Mayor M. Bhaskaran chaired the session.
