Call to withdraw newsprint price hike

KOCHI: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president and Chairman of Veekshanam daily Ramesh Chennithala has demanded that Hindustan Newsprint Ltd. withdraw the hike in the price of newsprint. In a statement, Mr. Chennithala said the hike would harm small and medium-scale newspapers in the State. The newsprint unit was started by the Union government with the intention of helping small and medium-scale newspapers. The hike was in direct contrast to the policy followed so far, he said. — Staff Reporter
