TDP panel takes stock of situation

HYDERABAD: A day after the TDP constituted five-member committee to study the twin phenomena of Telangana and political entry of megastar Chiranjeevi that stare at the party, there is a feeling that it would have been better if it was formed earlier.

This was the dominating view that emerged from the first meeting of the committee with party president N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Tuesday.

Though the focus of the meeting was on the impending extensive State-wide tour of Mr. Naidu, the hour-long meeting discussed how the committee should go about ways of grappling with the two issues.

The meeting was attended by four of the five members -- K. Yerran Naidu, T. Devender Goud, N. Janardhan Reddy and K. E. Krishnamurthy.

The lone member who could not make it was Yanamala Ramakrishnudu. Within the panel, there was near unanimity that the committee could have been constituted earlier and this could have forced a rethink on the part of leaders and film personalities planning to join other parties or float newer ones.
