Publicise ‘praja patham’, says District Collector

ANANTAPUR: District Collector N. Sridhar has directed the mandal-level officials to give advance publicity about the conduct of fourth phase of ‘praja patham’ programme in the district from April 10 to May 7.

He asked them to conduct the gram sabhas without any disruptions and distractions.

Conducting a review meeting on praja patham and horticulture here on Tuesday with mandal parishad development officers, assistant project officers of IKP and assistant project directors of DWMA he told the mandal officers to direct the gram panchayats to tom-tom the schedule of the programme in villages in advance.

Programme schedule

The schedule should also be informed to the elected representatives in advance so that they could come and participate, he said.

Two mandal level teams led by MPDO and Tahsildar would go round the villages to learn the problems of people.

Drinking water problems should be met immediately with BRGF funds, he stated.

‘Explain to people’

He also told them to explain people about the government schemes like Indiramma life insurance, Rs. 2-a-kg rice scheme, Rajiv Arogyasri and others.

He also directed the officials to select farmers having land holdings up to five acres for the horticulture scheme being implemented with 100 per cent subsidy under horticulture mission and NREGS.

On the wage employment, he asked the officials to ensure at least 25 days of work to every wage seeking families in April, May and June considered as lean period for regular farm work.

The Collector also unveiled praja patham posters and other publicity material later.

Zilla Parishad CEO K. Sripathi Rao, Project Directors of IKP and DWMA, N. Ramachandra Reddy and G. Gopal, respectively, CPO M. Sudarshanam, DM&HO N. Balaramaiah, Superintending Engineer of RWS Kishore Kumar, Assistant Director of Horticulture Y. Vidyashankar and others participated in the programme.
