Resentment over pay panel proposal

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Claiming “anomalies in the Sixth Central Pay Commission recommendations regarding graduate and post-graduate physiotherapists”, the Physiotherapists Forum of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences here has demanded a higher basic pay scale. The Forum has asked the Government not to club them with para-medical staff and instead bring them at par with group “A” entry.

“We want to express our strong dissatisfaction and concern at the repercussions of the recommendation by the Sixth Pay Commission regarding physiotherapists in Central Government hospitals,” said Forum president Ganesh Kr. Meena.

Stating that the recommendations would have a negative effect on the morale and practice of physiotherapists, Mr. Meena said according to the Pay Commission report the post of physiotherapist in the pre-revised pay scale of Rs.5,500-9,000 has been upgraded now to Rs.6,500-10,500.
