DMK MLA injured in accident

CHENNAI: Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MLA S.K. Vedarathinam was injured in a road accident on Kamarajar Salai late on Monday.
Police said that the MLA was coming to the city in his car from Vedaranyam around 1 a.m. Accompanied by two of his staff identified as Shahul and Pandian, he was proceeding to the MLAs’ Hostel.
A vehicle coming from the opposite direction was said to have failed in its attempt to negotiate around the mobile barricade, causing the accident.
The MLA was admitted to a private hospital. The driver of the other vehicle, whose name was given as Udayasuriyan, was admitted to the Government General Hospital, police said.
The Anna Square (Traffic) Investigation police registered a case.
