AITUC organises demonstrations

CHENNAI: All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) on Tuesday organised demonstrations across the State urging the government to repeal the order transferring all the 14 labour welfare boards to the Revenue Department from the Labour Department.

AITUC general secretary S.S. Thiagarajan who led the agitation in Chennai said the government’s decision had deprived the workers of their rights and ended the trade unions’ relations with the government.

He said demonstrations were held in 14 centres and thousands of workers including 8000 women participated.
