Vasco makes it to final round

Pune: Vasco Sports Club, Goa, made it to the final round of the second division I-League after playing out a goalless draw with ONGC here on Tuesday.

The draw with ONGC secured Vasco’s passage to the next round in Guwahati with 10 points. The oil PSU is third in Group A, six points behind Kolkata’s Chirag United.

Vasco squandered several opportunities with Alvito Rodrigues and Fulgeneio Cardozo being the main culprits.

ONGC mainly relied on counter-attacks with C.N. Henry and Salau Nurudeen doing most of the running.

Meanwhile in Kolhapur, Amity United defeated Indian Bank 3-1 for its maiden win in the competition. Praveen Arora (2) and Dany scored for the team from Haryana while Santha Kumar netted for the Chennai outfit. — PTI
