In search of a mango kernel

KOCHI: Two children in search of tasty mangoes in the time of globalisation — is the theme of yet another short film, Mangandi (Mango kernel) by the Maharaja’s College students’ group Neonfables.

After the debut short film Ente Katha and a documentary Thanal Veedu, the group of seven youngsters from the College are ready with their third venture that will be screened on April 12 at the Chavara Cultural Centre. Film director Lohitadas will inaugurate the event.

Screenplay, dialogues and direction is by Rathish K. R., a third year Philosophy student, who is now assisting Lohitadas in his new film.

After the success of their earlier ventures, which were much appreciated and won laurels at various venues, the group had been much enthused with their vocation, said Mr. Rathish.

The story is by Unnikrishnan P.K., a third year English student, and creative contribution is by Sreenu S.

“We spent Rs. 50,000 to make the film.

We pooled in some of the collection from the awards that we had got earlier and the rest was contributed by the producer Joseph Varghese”, said Rathish.

Ente Katha won eleven awards in different campus film festivals in the State level, including the Best Campus Film in ALA2007-Calicut and Jeevan TV Film Festival 2007 (special jury award for film and best actor).

Thanal Veedu had won the best documentary award in the M.G. University Youth Festival 2007.
