Exhibition of silk saris begins today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Exhibitions of silk products organised by the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation began here on April 8. The exhibition will be on in the city for a month.

Different types of silk saris, including wedding saris, salwar sets, ties, scarves and stoles are on display at these exhibitions.

Special attractions at the exhibitions include saris embossed with crystals and the wedding collection designed by Bangalore-based designer Deepika Govind.

Discounts of up to 30 per cent are offered at the exhibitions, according to a press release issued here.

The release said the exhibitions is on at the Navaratna Kalyana Mandapam on April 8, 9 and 10; at Hotel Pankaj on April 11, 12 and 13; at the Chandrasekharan Nair stadium on April 14, 15 and 16; at the YWCA on April 17, 18 and 19 and at the Women’s Club, Kowdiar, from April 20 to 22.

The ‘zari’ used to make Mysore Silk saris is a mix of 0.65 per cent gold and 65 per cent silver, the press release added.
