This Day That Age
The Hindi feature film “Do Ankhen Bara Hath” has been adjudged the best film of the year and is to be awarded the President’s gold medal and a cash prize of Rs 25,000. The Bengali film “Andhare Alo” stands second among the feature films and wins an all India Certificate of Merit and a cash prize of Rs 12,500. A Certificate of Merit goes to the Hindi film “Mother India” too. The Prime Minister’s gold medal for children’s films has, for the first time, been awarded to the Hindi film “Ham Panchchi Ek Dal Ke” and it will be given Rs 25,000 in cash. The Bengali film “Janamatithi” has been placed second and will be awarded a Certificate of Merit and a cash prize of Rs 12, 500. In the category of documentaries, “Himalayan Tapestry” stands first winning the President’s gold medal and a cash prize of Rs 5,000, and “Mandu” gets an all India Certificate of Merit and a cash award of Rs 2,500. “Dharti Ki Jhankar” gets an all India Certificate of Merit in this category.
