Notice to State over plea by schools

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday ordered issue of notices to the State, Education Department and other respondents on petitions by 10 educational institutions challenging the decision of the authorities in rejecting their request to start English-medium schools.

Diamond Education Trust of Bangalore, which runs the Diamond School in Banashankari 2nd Stage, and several others had moved the court after the jurisdictional Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) rejected their applications for starting English-medium schools.

Justice Ashok Hinchigeri ordered issue of notices to the State and others. He adjourned further hearing on the case.
