EXPANDING PORTFOLIO: Kensaku Konishi (right), President and CEO, Canon India Pvt. NEW DELHI: Aimed at consolidating its leadership position, digital imaging company Canon on Wednesday launched 23 new state-of-the-art digital cameras and camcorders priced between Rs. 7,795 and Rs. 74,995. The company is hoping to take its revenue to Rs. 700 crore this year and to Rs. 1,000 by 2009. Unveiling the new range of products — eight digital compact cameras, 12 digital video camcorders, one digital SLR and two printers — at a press conference here, Canon India President and CEO, Kensaku Konishi, said: “We have expanded our portfolio of next generation, easy-to-use digital imaging products that cater to the growing demands of Indian consumers. “We have also lowered the prices of our entry-level cameras by about Rs. 1,000 making it more accessible for people.” Canon India, which also launched a new television commercial featuring its brand ambassador Sachin Tendulkar, plans to spend Rs. 100 crore in marketing and advertising in 2008. It will also focus on strengthening distribution and retail presence along with opening six brand showrooms during this year. Canon India will also open two master service centres at Bangalore and Kolkata, taking the total number to four, and increase the number of its service centres across India.
