6 held in flyover collapse case

HYDERABAD: Seven months after the Punjagutta flyover girder collapse that left two persons dead and several injured, Hyderabad city police on Wednesday arrested six persons “responsible” for the incident.
The arrested persons include the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board Deputy General Manager M. Dharma Reddy and Manager Brijesh, both belonging to Engineering wing.
T.N.V.S. Ratnaji and Sanjay Bhattacharya, Assistant General Manager and Site Engineer of M/s Gammon India Limited respectively, and B.S.R. Laxman Rao and G.S.N. Madhusudhan Rao, both project managers of M/s Tanikella Integrated Consultants, were also arrested.
The Committee of Technical Experts that inquired into the incident felt that there was negligence on the part of Gammon India, Tanikella Integrated Consultants and HMWSSB, DCP DD R.S. Praveen Kumar said.
