THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to shift Ernakulam Collector A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish as Director of Public Instruction and post Thrissur Collector M. Beena in his place. V.K. Baby will be the new Collector of Thrissur. Director of Public Instruction M. Sivasankar would be moved as Director of Tourism. V.K. Vasudevan will be posted as Executive Director of Jalanidhi and P. Kesavan Nair as Managing Director of Matsyafed. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan told journalists that the shifting of Mr. Hanish had nothing to do with the handling of evictions at Moolampally for the Vallarpadam project. The Chief Minister said the declaration of the Smart City project area as Special Economic Zone (SEZ) ran into some problems because of petitions filed by some persons whose land had been acquired for the project. The Centre had sought explanations on that and the Information Technology Department had provided the necessary clarifications. Accordingly, part of the area was declared as SEZ. Petitions were pending regarding the remaining area and these too would be addressed soon.
