Training for RMPs/PMPs
HYDERABAD: The Government has agreed to a proposal to provide one-year comprehensive training for integration of services of unqualified medical practitioners (RMPs/PMPs) into health delivery system in rural areas. The aim is to make these registered resident community paramedic available at each habitation of 1000 population. They would treat minor ailments within the ambit of protocols and training status and promote and assist community action in health activities of every habitation.
A decision on the training programme was taken at a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Wednesday with health department officials. The idea is to make these medical practitioners as first responder to provide first aid and arrest bleeding. They would fill up the gap of availability of qualified trained health providers and services in communities especially in remote rural areas.
Amid representation from the Associations of Registered Medical Practitioners and Private Medical Practitioners in the State, the Government decided to consider them for health care delivery system.
