Expert committee to study TTP crisis

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has decided to form an expert panel to explore the possibility of diversification and reducing the production cost of Travancore Titanium Products (TTP) which is facing a closure threat. It has been decided to provide a working capital of Rs.10 crore to meet the immediate needs of the company. The decision was taken at a meeting held at the initiative of Titanium Officers Association president Ananthalavattom Anandan, MLA, at the Chief Minister’s chamber here on Wednesday. The members of the panel would be finalised at the next Cabinet meeting. The panel would be asked to file a detailed report within the next three months. The Kuwait National Petroleum Company has offered to supply sulphur at Rs.7,000 a tonne.
