Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Director General of Police (CoD), Ajai Kumar Singh, said on Wednesday that the CoD had arrested those suspected to be involved in two cases registered in connection with the existence of a terror network in the State.
He told The Hindu that the police were now in a position to file charge sheets.
Mr. Singh said: “We have caught the persons wanted in the two cases. We are in a position to file charge sheets now.”
He said 11 persons had been named as accused in the two cases registered in Hubli and Honnali in Davangere district. Of them, the CoD had arrested seven and the rest by the Madhya Pradesh police. Those arrested by the CoD were Asadullah Abubakar, Riyazuddin Nasir, MBBS student Mohammed Asif and Bangalore-based software engineer Mohammed Yahya Kammakutty alias Yahya Khan.
He said the CoD had been able to establish the connection of the seven accused with the four persons, including two top SIMI activists, Shibly Peedical Abdul and Adnan, who were arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police in Indore. Adnan, along with 25 SIMI activists, held three meetings in and around Hubli and discussed plans to carry out bombings in Karnataka and Goa.
