Book is a compendium-style documentation “Invaluable book should find a place in libraries” CHENNAI: The Poonamallee High Road unit of the Indian Medical Association has launched a book to help the medical fraternity to better understand the complexities of the thymus, a gland that plays an important immunity fortifying function. The Human Foetal Thymus, authored by Saratha Kathiresan, former director, Institute of Anatomy, Madras Medical College (MMC), is a compendium-style documentation of the author’s meticulous research on the thymus. Formally launching the book, K.V. Thiruvengadam, former professor of medicine, MMC, noted that the book would be useful for clinicians required to manage thymus carcinoma or detect anaemia. The invaluable book should find a place in medical libraries, he said. Dr. Thiruvengadam handed over the first copy to A. Krishnamurthy, professor of anatomy, Annamalai University. A. Rajasekar, president, National Board of Examinations, MGR Medical University, described the book as a meticulous work and said it would be made available at libraries. M.G. Muthukumaraswamy, former professor of surgery, MMC, S.P. Thiagarajan, former Vice Chancellor, University of Madras, A.J. Premkumar Satya, IMA State vice president, and a host of distinguished physicians complimented Dr. Saratha for the effort. Two other clinical books were recently launched in Chennai. Dr. Thiruvengadam launched the book Clinical Medicine authored by T.V. Devarajan and L. Vijayasundaram, by handing over the first copy to PWD Minister Durai Murugan. The Vice Chancellor of the Dr. MGR Medical University, Meer Mustafa Hussain, formally launched the book Medicine in a Nutshell by T.V. Devarajan, by handing over the first copy to T.P. Kalanidhi, Director of Medical Education.
