Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA: In a shocking incident, an engineering student, Kalingi Sandeep knifed his junior E. Meena Kumari alleging that she spurned his love. Doctors at the Government General Hospital (GGH) here battled for four hours and saved her life.

Sandeep is in final year (civil), while the girl is in the third year (IT) at Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering.

The incident took place in the girl’s house at Bapanaiah Nagar in Ranigarithota of Krishnalanka at around 9.15 a.m. Sandeep was trying to convince Meena Kumari and her family into agreeing for marriage.

But angered at the lukewarm response, he whipped out a knife and caused a deep injury on her neck and was himself injured in the process.
