Air passenger detained

Nedumbassery: Emigration officials at the Cochin international airport here on Wednesday detained a passenger for possessing a forged passport. Ismail (32), hailing from Chulli, Karnataka, was intercepted on arrival at the airport by an Air India Express flight from Sharja at 6.30 a.m. He was allegedly using the passport of one Naseer Ahmmed Kultarr Hameed, Ernakulam, by replacing the photograph. On interrogation, Ismail said he secured the passport from one Khalid in Doha for 3000 Dirham as he had lost his original passport. The emigration officials said that he had gone to Doha on an employment visa from Mumbai one-and-a-half years ago. The accused was handed over to the local police and a case was registered against him under the Passport Act.
