Sakrama case adjourned

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The State Government on Wednesday filed before the Karnataka High Court an affidavit relating to Sakrama, its scheme to regularise illegal buildings and change in land use.

In its affidavit, the State said it had extended the deadline for people to opt for the scheme.

Moreover, the draft of the scheme had been published and the public could file their objections before the Government.

It said the petitions questioning the legality and validity of the scheme should be dismissed as it is premature.

The State told the court that it had filed its statement on the Sakrama scheme in all the cases.

A Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice Ravi Malimath, which is hearing several public interest litigation (PIL) petitions against the scheme adjourned further hearing on the case.
