Corrections and clarifications

* * In a badminton report “Chetan enters final” (“Sport”, April 6, 2008), which was on the India Open Grand Prix badminton championship at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, the results column said “Women’s singles: Zhou Mi (Hkg) bt Eriko Hirose (Chn) 18-21, 21-12, 21-12”. Eriko Hirose is from Japan.

* * An AFP report “Pakistani film to screen in India” (“Newscape” page, April 4, 2008) said that “Khuda Ke Liye” (“In the Name of God”) will be the first film from Pakistan to be released across cinemas in India in more than four decades. A reader disputed this saying the film “Khamosh Paani” (“Silent Waters”) was the first to be screened, in 2004. “Khuda Ke Liye” is the first Pakistani film to get a wide commercial release in India in over four decades. “Khamosh Paani”, a French co-production, had a limited release in India, in 2003.
