Usha, Abhinav, Manavjit among torch-bearers

NEW DELHI: Sprint queen P. T. Usha and shooters Abhinav Bindra and Manavjit Singh Sandhu are among the torch-bearers announced by Samsung India for the Olympic torch relay to be held here on April 17.

Usha was earlier invited by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) too.

Sandhu said, “carrying the Olympic torch is indeed a matter of great pride and privilege for any individual.”

Amongst Samsung’s list of torch-bearers is Rajinder Singh Rahelu, a powerlifter who won a bronze in the 2004 Athens Paralympics.

Sarod maestro Ayaan Ali Khan and ‘Chak de’ girl Sagarika Ghatge are the others in the Samsung list.
