Minister’s directive on NREGP works

Correspondent

The directive follows complaint by workers

Promises to solve low-voltage problem soon

VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana has instructed officials not to divide groups for executing works under National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme. The directive came in the wake of a complaint by labourers at Narava village in Gantyada mandal where the Minister launched the Praja Patham programme on Thursday that they had received less wages than their counterparts following division of groups by the DRDA officials. Mr. Satyanarayana also asked officials to shoulder responsibility of issuing death certificates in a month to kin of the labourers who died while executing NREGP works.

With regard to hanging power transmission lines that have become death traps for many in rural areas, the Minister asked Transco officials to fasten all such loose overhead lines immediately. He also promised to solve the low voltage problem shortly.

104 service

On Aam Admi Bhima Yojana, the Minister said that 142 landless farm labourers were identified in the village for the scheme. In case of untoward incident the Government would pay compensation to bereaved families to the tune of Rs. 75,000 in addition to educational assistance to two children.

The Minister said that ‘104 service’ would be launched in the district in August this year. Senior Congress MLA P. Sambasiva Raju, Collector B. Kishore and others were present.
