Plea to hike DA and conveyance allowance

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Bangalore University College Teachers’ Association (BUCTA) has appealed to the Bangalore University Syndicate to bring the conveyance and dearness allowances to non-University Grants Commission pay-scale teachers on a par with the UGC pay-scale teachers.

In a press release here, association president K.G. Lokesh said that the association would welcome the decision of the Bangalore University Syndicate at a meeting held recently to enhance the conveyance ceiling limit to Rs. 60,000 a year for those teachers valuing the degree scripts.

He said the discrepancy between the UGC and non-UGC pay scale teachers regarding conveyance and dearness allowance for out-station teachers had not been addressed at the meeting. Mr. Lokesh called for enhancing the conveyance and dearness allowances to Rs. 350 and Rs. 500 respectively.
