KOLKATA: Bookings for the “Maitree Express,” the much-awaited biweekly train service from Kolkata to Dhaka, begins on Friday. The inaugural run is slated for April 14, the Bengali News Year’s Day.

Tickets can be purchased 10 days in advance and will be issued only on production of valid documents, an Eastern Railway release said here on Thursday.

Passengers have been requested to report at least two hours before the departure of the train for security check.

The fare by AC first class (cabin) is $ 20, AC Chair Car $ 12 and second class non-AC Chair Car $ 8. No reservation fees and super-fast surcharge will be levied. Children up to five years, accompanied by an adult, will be charged half the fare, the release said.
